An intuitive multimedia artist, Lois Byrne uses the excitement of experimentation to satisfy her creative urge. Her acrylics and watercolors reflect an "art for art's sake" approach, allowing the painter to employ a wide range of techniques. Her inventive art is self-imagined, not inspired by sources of influence, nor does it attempt to portray social, political, or philosophical messages.
Through choosing to work in the abstract, she brings the essence of landscape across to the viewer. Lois is considered a colorist but excels in innovative composition and design.
Vincent Hartgen, University of Maine, was her first and most influential art teacher. Other artists who influenced her were Richard Grosvenor of Newport, Rhode Island, and Marie Wordell of San Diego.
Lois has garnered many awards in Southern California juried exhibitions, and several one-person and invitational shows encouraged her to be a prolific creator.
