About the La Jolla Art Association

The purpose of LJAA is to further the advancement of fine arts in La Jolla and San Diego County. For over 90 years, we have represented artistic excellence from local artists. People visit our gallery free of charge to see exhibits by our members - many of whom are international award winners.

Artist members join LJAA to exhibit their work in the LJAA Gallery to be inspired by one another and develop fellowship among other local artists. Member art is displayed and is for sale to the general public in the LJAA Gallery for affordable prices.

Major exhibitions include the Annual Member's Show and the Southern California Juried Exhibition. During the balance of the year, gallery exhibits change every two weeks, featuring variety of subjects and style of artwork of our members and guest artists.

We are an all-volunteer art organization that relies on member dues, art sale commissions, voluntary contributions and donations to maintain the gallery and education space. We offer demonstrations, classes, and lectures at our gallery and other community locations. We promote exhibits of our artists' work throughout the region. In addition, we sponsor an awards program for youth art and conduct charity events partnering with other non profit organizations.

La Jolla Art Association was established in 1918. It is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization serving the community and local artists. The mission of LJAA is to promote the appreciation of visual arts by providing art exhibits and art education for the community.
